Witmer, Jack D - 53 - Dauphin County, Pennsylvania
October 2nd 1951 - October 12th 2005, Born in Motour County, Pennsylvania

Jack Davis Witmer died October 12, 2005 at the age of 54. Jack was born in Motour County, Pennsylvania, the son of Nevin D Witmer & Ethel M (Miller) Witmer.

Jack graduated from the Dauphin County High School System of Pennsylvania and later studied electronics at the DeVry Institute of Illinois.

At the age of eighteen, Jack joined the Navy. He served aboard the USS Columbus, a cruiser with the hull designation GC12. Long since decommissioned, detail of it’s missions and photographs of the ship can be found in naval archives. He received a military discharge under honorable conditions as a Vietnam era veteran with a Meritorious Unit Commendation.

Jack lived an Oscar Madison lifestyle, seldom cared about material things. He did care about his fellow man, made donations when possible, became a volunteer firefighter. His taste in attire matured to Chicago style pinstripe suits with vests, often sporting a mustache. He had an exceptional memory, played chess a little, tried his hand at poetry. His schemes and impossible dreams gave a sense of excitement to life. Jack had a dog, a big Alaskan Husky, through it all his true friend.

His final resting place is the Rolling Green Cemetery in Pennsylvania, the land where he was born and raised. A bronze military marker attests to his existence. 1951 - 2005
