Elder Herman Goins Jr was born on August 29th, 1954 to the parents of the late Herman Sr. and Benita Goins. He was the youngest of three, Deborah, who preceded him in death, and Beatrice. He was educated in the Chicago Public School System, attending Yale Elementary, Neal F. Simeon High School, and Olive Harvey College, majoring in Business. John Berry was a good man. I was fortunate to be married to him for 52 1/2 years. He lived his life as a Christian by helping others.
He joined the Merchant Marines when he was 17 years old, then the US army stationed in Alaska.
His career was in the building business and he could build anything, from rocking horses, chess table, unicycles, to custom built homes.
He also loved planting vegetable garden every year and taking care of the plants.
